This study aims to study the effect of teaching visual literacy on the learning skills of 7-10-year-old children referred to the Public Library of Mohammad Rasoolullah (PBUH) Javanrood.<br /><strong>Methods</strong><strong>: </strong>This quasi-experimental study was performed using a pretest-posttest with a control group. The statistical population consisted of all 7-10-year-old members of Mohammad Rasoolullah Public Library in Javanrood in 2018-2019. They were selected by convenience sampling method. 15 persons were considered the experimental group for teaching visual literacy and 15 persons as the control group. The research tool was Kangas Learning Skills Questionnaire (2009) and Lupatska et al (2018) visual literacy questionnaire. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used for data analysis.<br /><strong>Results</strong><strong>:</strong> The results of multivariate analysis of covariance showed that there is a significant difference between the average scores of learning skills and its components (note taking, memory enhancement, exam preparation, concentration enhancement, and time management) in children who received visual literacy education and children who did not receive then education; teaching visual literacy has led to an increase in their learning skills.<br /><strong>Conclusions: </strong>Due to the importance of teaching visual literacy to enhance children's learning skills, teaching visual literacy can be considered an effective program in public libraries.
