University of Qom Sciences and Techniques of Information Management 2476-6658 2 4 2017 02 19 Writing on the changed name Writing on the changed name 1 19 835 10.22091/stim.2017.835 FA Journal Article 2016 07 28 Writing on the changed name<br />Dr. Mortaza Kokabi<br />Abstract<br />Purpose: the purpose of the present text is to study whether or not the new substitute for "library and information science" that is, "knowledge and information science" is an appropriate name.<br />Methodology: the methodology employed in the present text is the reviewing of some texts including the ones related to changing of the field name and in general it is an interpretation of the texts studied. <br />The methodology is of qualitative research. <br />Findings: findings illustrated that the new name that is, "knowledge and information science" is not an appropriate name based on the arguments presented and a new substitute name is necessary.<br />Conclusion: after some arguments on the inappropriateness of the new name, as well as the specifications of the substitute name, "information science" has been suggested to substitute the new name provided the responsibilities imposed by the substitute name is also performed.
