The questionnaire at three levels examined the lack of certainty regarding information retrieval activities, information retrieval problems and channels and information resources with respect to age, gender, IT skills, educational level and field of study.
Results: The results showed that the average uncertainty among users at all three levels was too moderate. The average uncertainty of users in data retrieval activities is less than the uncertainty about the resources and channels of information. The average uncertainty about data recovery problems is also higher than the uncertainty in information retrieval activities. According to other findings, there was no significant relationship between demographic characteristics of users and their uncertainty.Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the lack of certainty or uncertainty in the search and retrieval activities of the Web among users of the Digital Library of the Iranian National Library.
Method: An analytical survey method and a data gathering tool were designed by a researcher that validity and reliability were measured. The population of the study consisted of ten international academic ranking systems and the top 100 universities in each ranking system were selected using purposive sampling method. Elsevier’s SciVal was utilized for data gathering. Moreover, the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (version 18) was used for correlational analysis.
Findings: Results of the study revealed negative but statistically significant associations between six scientometric indicators of the universities, namely total publications, total citations, citations per publication, field-weighted citation impact, highly cited publications and outputs in top journals, and the universities’ position in all ten ranking systems. On contrary, statistically significant relationship between international research collaboration of the universities and their position in ranking systems was only found in the U.S. News & World Report's Best Global Universities Ranking.
Conclusion: Results of the study showed that research performance of the world universities has a great impact on their status in international academic ranking systems. Objectives: The current research aims to investigate the relationship between performances of top world universities according to scientometric indicators and their position in ten international academic ranking systems.
Methods: This quantitative correlational research was conducted using scientometric indicators. Method: The research method is survey and evaluative, it was a kind of analytical-survey research. The research population consists of all graduate students of state universities affiliated to the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology of Tehran, and graduates of knowledge and Information Science in all sections from 2011-2016. The relevant statistics were referenced to the websites of the universities, referring to the reference book of the assessment organization and the census of students in 3575 individuals. 357 of them were selected according to Cochran formula. Stratified random sampling method was used and information was gathered through a questionnaire based on Ahanchian, Lotfi, Kazemi & sabetzadeh's (2015) research. Results: The findings of this study showed that reference service skills, IT skills, information literacy skills, organization skills and set-up skills are important for students and graduates, respectively. The results also showed that there is no significant difference between students 'and graduates' needs based on their educational level and gender. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that reference and IT services skills are one of the most important needs of students and graduates to enter the labor market, and institutions and universities need to enter the workforce to train qualified staff and plan for the training of the mentioned skills.Aim: The purpose of this study was to identify the educational needs of graduate and undergraduate students in the field of knowledge and Information Science.
