Purpose: The present study was conducted to prioritize the barriers to the establishment of knowledge management in the executive bodies of Lorestan province .
Method: The present study is a mix-method research. The research community includes the public sector organizations of Lorestan province, from which twelve public sector organizations were selected based on the indicators of education, research, and educational qualifications of the employees. The final analysis was performed on 252 returned questionnaires.
Findings: The results showed that organizational structure and process, knowledge management process, leadership, staff, information and communication technology, organizational culture and learning and innovation with averages of 56.02, 32.31, 31.30, 60, respectively. 28/27, 32/27, 13/26, and 24/68 are the most important obstacles to the establishment of knowledge management in the public sector organizations of Lorestan province.
Conclusion: Establishing a knowledge management system in the public sector organizations requires coordination between the policy-makers section and the executive section. Undoubtedly, the awareness of policy makers and executives about the benefits of knowledge management and their ability to establish a logical relationship between the various obstacles and their effects on each other can pave the way for the establishment of knowledge management in the public sector organizations.
