Quality Assessment of Central Library’s Website at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad from the Viewpoints of the Students

Abstract

 
   Purpose: the study aimed to evaluate the quality of the website owned by Information Center andCentral Library of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad as one of the top universities in the country.
Methodology: the research is and applied one in survey method. The statistical population were the total number of students studying in Ferdowsi University of Mashhad. A set of 380 students was selected as the appropriate sample. The data were collected using a questionnaire which were then analyzed by software SPSS.
Findings: among the attraction components of the website owned by Information Center and Central Library of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, the use of attractive media had the highest score and the typography had the lowest one. Regarding the usability component, consistency had the highest and the structure had the lowest score. Moreover, the degree of satisfaction among the students from the quality of the website was evaluated as medium.
Conclusion: although a new website is designed for Information Center and Central Library of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, there appeared, however, a need to revise its quality especially in terms of usability.
