Abstract

Abstract
Aim: It aims to draw and analyze the Mapping Outputs of the Information Society
Domain through the Co-occurrence of the Vocabulary in the Citation Databases of Web of
Science during 2001-2018 and ISC during 1991-2018.
Methodology: This study is a syntactic analysis of words which is one of the scientific
techniques.
Findings: The thematic areas of the Information Society, Internet and the digital gap
between the Web of Science database and information society, Employment, and the World
Summit on the ISC database had the highest share of production. The growth rate of the
information society domain in the Web of Science was 4%. In the ISC, the growth rate was
67% during 1991 to 2015 and from 2005 to 2018 the negative growth rate was 23%. The
clusters of the information society included trust, digital gap, globalization, information
policy, information society, technology, politics, education, copyright, and intellectual
property. Internet and technology have the highest link in the three centrality measures and
the highest rate in the proximity and middle measures at the Web of Science. The results show
that the network of information society domain has a continuous structure.
Conclusion: According to the results of this study, scientific policy making in the field
of information society can be aided. By identifying research gaps in the field of information
society domestically and in relation to related issues abroad, information science
professionals can work to address these gaps.
