Abstract

Propose: Nowadays, data mining plays an important role in information-oriented planning. Therefore, the present study aims to determine the information retrieval behavior of researchers in soft power, community and security research groups of the Institute of Humanities, and cultural and strategic studies of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, with a data mining approach as a tool to obtain intangible patterns of transactions and information retrieval behaviors while working with information resources in this area.
Methodology: The purpose of this research is applied studies and has been done by descriptive-survey method using neural network technique. The instrument of this research is a researcher-made questionnaire and the study population is 100 people. After collecting the data, the neural network was selected to cluster the data and using the software Matlab version 14, the researchers were clustered based on the main components of the research. The main sub-components of the research were identified as the most effective and least effective option in their information-seeking behavior in working with information resources in this specialized field.
Findings: Considering clustering using self-organizing neural networks, the most effective component in motivation and aim of the researchers for information seeking in was to improve the quality of teaching. The most effective component of the resources required was Persian full-text electronic journals. The most services in meeting their information needs were familiarity with a variety of resources in their special field.
Conclusion: Since today we are faced with a discussion of data governance and data, and the basis of the strategic element of any business. So, check the behavior of the data with different approaches, including significant importance and value of neural network techniques and special place. Therefore, according to the purpose of the present research findings, and reviews and information policy behaviors clustering information needs of researchers studied society (research groups, and Community power and Security Institute for Humanities and cultural studies, and strategic studies) with the use of this approach, to acquire knowledge and understanding of their information needs, and to prepare them for policy and provision of resources needed, and this would including the prolegomena is that effective research field, make the appropriate findings and results-oriented information to make a decision on this basis for managers and those involved in this field (and cyber space Soft power).
