Comparative study of scientific products indexed by Iran and Turkey in relation to cloud computing in Web of Science

Abstract

Purpose: The aim of this study is a comparative study of scientific products of Iran and Turkey in the field of cloud computing on the Web of Science website.
 Method: This research is an applied research and has been done with a scientometric approach. And Web of Science citation database has been used to collect data.
Findings: The findings showed that in relation to cloud computing, from the beginning to the end of 2017, 373 information records from Iran and 172 information records from Turkey were indexed in the Web of Science citation database. The first indexed scientific products of both countries were in 2009. Except in 2016, when the growth of scientific production in Iran was declining, the growth of scientific production in both countries was upward. The most scientific products of Iran in 2017 with 122 information records and the most scientific products of Turkey in 2017 with 46 information records. The findings showed that researchers in both countries first collaborated with US researchers to produce 14 information records, followed by Iranian researchers with Malaysian researchers in compiling 13 information records and Canadian researchers in 12 information records. Turkish researchers have collaborated with Canadian researchers in compiling 9 information records and Finland in 6 information records. Among Iranian universities, Islamic Azad University is in the first place with 129 information records, followed by Amirkabir University with 39 information records and The University of Tehran is in the next ranks with 38 information records. Among the Turkish universities, Istanbul University of Technology is in the first rank with 14 information records. In the scientific productions of both countries, the keyword "cloud computing" had the highest frequency, followed by big data in the scientific records of Turkey and virtualization in the scientific productions of Iran. The keywords of scientific productions of both countries consist of 14 clusters.
