Study and Ranking of Factors Affecting the Implementation of Knowledge Management in University Libraries in Golestan Province in 2018

Abstract

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to identify and rank the factors affecting knowledge management in Golestan University university libraries in 2018. The statistical population of this research includes all librarians working in Golestan university libraries in 2018.
Methods: The present study is a descriptive survey and correlation. A descriptive description of which findings are described in the same way as collected and the relationships between variables are examined and evaluated. Since the information was provided by a sample of the main community by the questionnaire obtained from the survey of this survey. In the present study, the viewpoint of experts was used to confirm the validity of the questionnaire. The statistical population of this research includes all librarians working in Golestan University libraries in 2018, with 50 people. Because the population of this study was limited in the present study, the census method was used to prepare and determine the size of the statistical sample; That is, all the people of the statistical population have been investigated by questionnaires.
Results: According to the results, the understanding of managers of university libraries ranked first (90%). Since organizational culture is one of the factors affecting knowledge management, the use of new culture with knowledge management changes should be accompanied by organizational continuity in library affairs.
IT infrastructure has ranked second (71%). Creating and enhancing information technology infrastructure create a complex and dynamic information structure in libraries and lead to an easy sharing of information; This technology helps members of libraries to receive scientific data from external specialists, in addition, information technology will meet the needs of the team cooperation. The familiarity of librarians with the concept of knowledge management was ranked third (64%); The acquaintance of librarians with the concept of knowledge management provides a strategy for optimal exploitation of knowledge and intellectual forces of librarians; This facilitates the implementation of knowledge management. Librarians as human resources have a significant role in realizing the goals of the organization and are considered valuable assets and important resources and strategic capital in the organization. Furthermore, organizational culture ranked fourth (61%).
Conclusions: Understanding academic libraries managers with the concept of knowledge management will identify and analyze existing knowledge and processes related to planning and subsequent control of operations for the development of capital and processes to provide libraries goals.
