Abstract

Objectives: This research aims to develop an IT roadmap for implementing a dedicated organizational virtual bank (or implementing any new IT projects or improving existing IT systems). In this regard, a new methodology for creating an IT roadmap was developed.
Methods: The method of this research was a mixed exploratory approach based on the development of Creswell's tools. The statistical sample was selected as a panel of experts consisting of thirty experts in the field related to the subject of research in Mobarakeh Steel Company. The qualitative phase of the research began with an interview and a semi-structured questionnaire. After analyzing the content of the interviews, a tool (questionnaire) was developed for the quantitative phase. Afterward, the quantitative phase began with the implementation of the Delphi method, which lasted three rounds. Finally, fifty IT indicators were finalized. Then, the importance-performance analysis (IPA) matrix method was used to evaluate these indicators and detect IT gaps.
Results: During the qualitative phase, 98 information technology indicators were identified. Also, in the quantitative phase, 50 of these 98 initial indicators were approved and then finalized. Also, based on importance-performance analysis, nine gaps were identified. These gaps were used in the information technology roadmap and they should be covered or remediated by suitable solution, strategy, plan, etc.
Finally, based on all findings of this research, an information technology roadmap document was developed to establish a dedicated enterprise virtual bank.
Conclusions: This study presents a new, integrated, localized, applied, and integrated process (based on some of the main methods of foresight) to develop an IT roadmap that can easily meet the needs of researchers and organizations in the field of road mapping or information technology roadmap. Therefore, the information technology roadmap document obtained from this research is an easy-to-understand, self-described and practical roadmap document that can play an effective role in the implementation or development of information technology projects in organizations.
