Abstract

Purpose: The study aims to develop a knowledge management model in Iran's metropolitan municipalities.
Method: This research is applied in terms of purpose and descriptive survey type. The research population is 5000 employees from 5 provinces from the metropolitan municipalities. Based on Cochran's formula, 360 people were selected by the cluster research sampling method. The research tool is a questionnaire obtained from qualitative research analysis that includes seven components and 59 questions.
Results: The one-sample t-test showed a difference between the desired situation and the current situation of all components of the knowledge management model among the employees of metropolitan municipalities in Iran. The current situation is rated lower than the desired situation. Also, the factor load is more significant than 0.6, which is in a good and acceptable range. Because the t-value is more significant than 1.96, the significance of all knowledge management components in metropolitan municipalities is confirmed. Furthermore, a model with seven components is presented to the country's municipalities.
Conclusion: It is suggested to use new and creative methods for knowledge transfer in the municipal organization, develop electronic services in municipalities, encourage employees to transfer their learning to new municipal forces, and employees and managers to benefit from the implementation of knowledge management.
