the effect of intellectual capital and knowledge management on competitive advantage with the mediating role of innovativeness and the moderating role of differentiation strategy

Abstract

Objective: Advanced organizations that have adopted the knowledge-based economy should strengthen their knowledge creation, aggregation and maintenance skills so that through it they can increase their capabilities and gain a competitive advantage. Knowledge management is considered the process of structured collection, security and management of information and knowledge in the organization; In fact, it will not be possible to have competitive power without raising the organizational understanding of knowledge management, value production and intellectual capital. Today, the biggest challenge facing organizations is creating the intellectual capital to recognize how organizational management facilitates knowledge sharing among employees and how to ensure that knowledge contributes to the success of their organization. The present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the impact of intellectual capital and knowledge management on competitive advantage with regard to the mediating role of innovation in Shiraz University of Medical Sciences.

Methodology: The research method is applied in terms of purpose and descriptive-correlation in terms of the nature and method of data collection. The statistical population of this research consists of all managers and staff of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, based on the obtained information, their number is 400, of which 196 were selected using Cochran's formula through simple random sampling. The tool for collecting field information in this research is a questionnaire that consists of intellectual capital questionnaires (Kianto et al., 2010; Bantis, 1998; Subramaniam and Yondt, 2005), knowledge management (Gold et al., 2001), competitive advantage (Wu and Chen) , 2012), innovation (Harley and Hallett, 1998) has been used. The analysis method used in this research is structural equation modeling based on SmartPLS3 software. In this research, content validity method is used for more assurance. For this purpose, the questionnaire was given to specialists and experts, such as the respected teacher, and they were asked for their opinion on each question and regarding the evaluation of the related goal, and the questionnaire was approved with partial amendments. Cronbach's alpha method was used to determine the reliability of the measurement tool.

Findings: The results of the research showed that intellectual capital has a positive and significant effect on innovation, and the path coefficient of its effect is (0.304) and the t-statistic value is (4.860). Also, knowledge management has a positive and significant effect on innovation, and the path coefficient of its effect is (0.516) and the t-statistic value is (8.009). Also, the impact of innovation on competitive advantage was also confirmed and the path coefficient of its effect is (0.370) and the value of t statistic is (4.014). The effect of knowledge management on competitive advantage was confirmed and the path coefficient of its effect is (0.255) and the value of t statistic is (3.602). In addition, it was found that innovation mediates the relationship between intellectual capital, knowledge management and competitive advantage.

Conclusion: In order for today's organizations to survive in the new paradigm of competition between organizations, which is a completely competitive and knowledge-oriented environment, they must look at innovation as a necessary strategy in the current era in order to be able to respond to changes in the most appropriate way. give, because being innovative in the organization helps in dealing with the turbulent external environment, which is associated with complexity and change. Organizations that emphasize more on intellectual capital are more innovative than other organizations, because in such organizations, due to the existence of intellectual capital and the use of knowledge, knowledge learning is also more, which in turn, provides solutions. New will lead to doing things and innovation in general.Identifying, improving and strengthening intellectual capital and its dimensions as one of the important capabilities of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences in creating, storing, sharing, applying and evaluating organizational knowledge can lead to the development of innovative activities.
