Abstract

Aim: The purpose of this study is to identify the factors and barriers affecting the acceptance of research and technology information management system (SIMAP) by faculty members of the University of Tabriz.
Methodology: In the present descriptive-survey study, the statistical sample consisted of 260 faculty members of Tabriz University who were selected randomly. a questionnaire was distributed among them and finally, 174 questionnaires (67%) were completed and returned. The data were analyzed using inferential statistical indicators such as factor analysis, Pearson correlation coefficient, analysis of variance, T-test, and Kolmogorov-Smirnov.
Findings: The finding showed five major barriers to SIMAP acceptance among faculty members (Cognitive, Equipment, Education, Accessibility, and follow-up). Also, there is a significant correlation between Adoption rate and Cognitive, Equipment, Education, and Accessibility barriers.
Conclusion: According to these findings, it seems that faculty members of the University of Tabriz are trying to use the SIMAP, although some barriers could affect the use of this system. With the removal of these barriers, it would be hoped that the majority of faculty members would accept and use the system.
